RSS stands for "Really Simple Syndication" and allows people to subscribe to and receive regular updates to RSS-enabled web sites using a feed reader installed on a computer or mobile device (e.g. - Blackberry, iPhone, etc.). This makes it possible to know what changes have been made to subscribed sites without actually visiting them, all viewable through RSS reader software. Many RSS readers integrate with web browsers or mail clients. Newer versions of these programs, including Outlook 2007, Internet Explorer 8, Firefox 3.5, Thunderbird 2.0, Safari and Mac Mail, include the ability to subscribe to, and view, RSS feeds without installing additional feed reader software.

RSS feeds are available for the "Events Calendar" and "News and Announcements" pages of the OHOA site. You may sign up to receive updates to these site elements by using the "Subscribe to:" widget at the bottom of the "News and Announcements" page and by clicking the "RSS Subscription: OHOA Events Calendar" link at the bottom of this page. Both "RSS Subscription" links are listed below.

Some of you may still prefer to receive site updates via email. You can do this using Google’s Feed Burner service by clicking the "Receive RSS updates via Email" link(s) below. After subscribing, you will receive emailed updates once daily containing all the new information posted on either the "Events Calendar" or "News and Announcements" pages. You will only receive email if there are changes to these pages; no changes, no email, which reduces email "clutter". You can also easily "unsubscribe" from this service by clicking the "unsubscribe" link at the bottom of any update email.

Important note regarding reminder "alerts": The OHOA Events Calendar has been created using Google calendar, which can be easily synchronized with your personal Google calendar or preferred calendar application if you have a Google calendar so that you can see all of your calendar items in one place and receive reminder "alerts" about important upcoming events (http://www.google.com/intl/en/googlecalendar/about.html). If you use another calendar application that is not able to automatically synchronize with this site’s calendar, you will need to manually add important events to your own calendar so that you can receive and manage reminder "alerts" on important upcoming events.**
